Nuclear weapons are explosive devices which are curated in a way to cause mass destruction. It produce immense power through nuclear reactions- Fission or Fission and Fusion.
Types Of Nuclear Weapons
- Fission Bombs
These types of devices generally work by shooting a isotope neutron into heavy metals like Uranium-235 or Plutonium-239 which splits into smaller nuclei, which releases tremendous amount of energy. Example: Hiroshima (“Little Boy” used uranium-235) and Nagasaki (“Fat man” used pluotnium-239) in 1945
- Fusion Bombs
These types of bombs are commonly known as Thermonuclear bombs or Hydrogen bombs. It works through combining two light atomic nuclei into each other to form a heavier nuclei. Thus, in the process releasing energy. Hydrogen isotopes such as Deuterium and Tritium are used as fuels. Modern types of nuclear bombs such as Tsar uses a mix of both fission bombs which creates the respective temperature and pressure triggering the fusion process.
